Performed live at Grusin Auditorium this piece, written for Piatigorsky, shares a strong connection to Paganini's "Moses Fantasy" variations based on the same theme. However this is the only similarity these two pieces share as the character and rhythmic figures in the Martinu makes one quickly forget the association between to the two works.
